Concurrent Engineering
Brandon McCartney

Introduction

One way companies are making better products is through concurrent engineering, a systematic approach involving all departments in the development process at the same time. The purpose of this report is to see if the Web has any useable information on concurrent engineering.

Method

For this search I used two search engines and used "concurrent engineering" and "product development" as key words. The results were scanned to see if they comply with my criteria. Due to time constraints, I only scanned the first ten sites.

Results

From a search using HotBot, I found the Society of Concurrent Engineering, (www.soce.org). This group's home page had all the information I needed about concurrent engineering. The SOCE Home page was last updated on November 22, 2001 so it is a recent site. It also had many credible resources.

The HotBot search results included 19,631 sites. Of the first ten, two were useful. Yahoo! returned 21 different sites none of which I felt helped me.

Discussion

From this search I feel that the Web does have useful information about concurrent engineering, because I was able to find a site fast and it had useful information.
